A government MTP licence, and the prescribed consent form
The operating theatre is licensed by the government specifically for termination of pregnancy. The government's prescribed consent form is signed before a termination and exists only at licensed premises — a pharmacy may not dispense the medicines without it. It is there to protect you.
Scan-guided surgery and 100% disposable instruments
Where a surgical procedure is needed, the doctor watches the uterus on the scan screen throughout it. Every instrument and consumable that touches you is single-use.
If the scan shows an ectopic pregnancy
Occasionally a scan finds the pregnancy growing outside the womb, usually in a fallopian tube. That is an ectopic pregnancy and it must be named plainly: it is not a termination of pregnancy. It is a different medical condition and an emergency. The pregnancy cannot continue where it is, and the operation to treat it is done to protect your life, under entirely different considerations. Finding it quickly is one of the main reasons the scan is done first.
Why not to wait
Earlier is simpler, and that is a medical statement rather than a scheduling one. In the early weeks more methods are open to you, less intervention is needed and recovery is quicker; as time passes the options narrow and what remains is a larger undertaking. The MTP Act sets the outer limits and we will tell you honestly where you stand — but the reason to come now is your own body, not the calendar.
What it costs, decided after you are examined
If you telephone with a recent ultrasound we can usually give you a close estimate, and we will say plainly that it is an estimate — an examination that has not happened yet cannot be priced. When you arrive, our own certified doctors assess you, examine you and repeat the investigations so that the exact situation and gestation are known.
Only then are you given a precise, itemised cost: hospital, medical, pharmacy and laboratory, each shown separately. That becomes a promised package in rupees. Hospital fees are taken in full in advance, and the amount does not change at the end. The figure you are given is the figure you pay.
How to reach us from Belagavi
- By train. There is a direct service between Belagavi and Vasco-da-Gama, roughly four and a half hours, and it sets you down in our own town rather than at a distant junction. The hospital at Vaddem is a short ride from the station.
- By road. Belagavi to Goa over the Chorla or Anmod ghat is a few hours, depending on the route and the traffic on the ghat section. Buses and taxis run it all day.
- Or let us come for you — free of cost. Our car service collects patients from anywhere in Goa and from the border states, which includes Karnataka, and takes them home again afterwards. There is no charge for it. Tell us where in Belagavi you are and we will arrange it around your appointment.
- Not by air. Flying from Belagavi to Goa makes no sense for a journey this short — the road or the train is quicker door to door.
