Termination of pregnancy for patients travelling from Hyderabad
Lawful, licensed, confidential. Termination of pregnancy at Pai Hospital is carried out lawfully under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 (as amended), at a licensed facility, by registered medical practitioners, within the limits and the certification that the Act requires. We do not carry out or offer sex determination of any kind, at any stage, for any reason. Your identity and your treatment are confidential.
Hyderabad to Goa is roughly an hour and a quarter in the air, and Goa's airport is a few kilometres from our door. Pai Hospital is at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama. Termination of pregnancy here is lawful and licensed, the price is fixed before anything is done, and your privacy is not a policy on a wall — it is how the visit is arranged from the moment you telephone. Call or WhatsApp us first.
What we can promise you about privacy
Your identity is protected by law, and protected here in practice. Nothing about your visit is written anywhere another person can see it, discussed outside the consulting room, or shared with anybody — not your family, not your partner, not your employer, not somebody who telephones the hospital asking after you.
Behind that promise is training rather than good intentions. Our staff are taught over years to be non-judgemental, and gossip is treated here as a serious matter and actively stopped. The privacy is designed into how a visit runs: who sees you, where you wait, what is said out loud and what is not.
If you are unmarried, you are entirely entitled to this care and it is entirely lawful. You need no one's permission but your own — not a husband's, not a partner's, not your parents'. A great many of the women who travel to us are unmarried, and most are inside a hospital for the first time in their lives. You are made welcome, not processed through.
Why some patients from Hyderabad travel
Distance is privacy. A city the size of Hyderabad still runs on overlapping circles — office, colony, extended family, a familiar chemist — and for a lot of patients that makes real anonymity impossible at home. Some also travel because they want the scan, the assessment, the certification and the procedure to happen in one building with one team, instead of being carried between three addresses.
What happens here
Your scan, in our department, on arrival
The ultrasound that determines how many weeks you are, where the pregnancy is sitting and which method suits you is done by our own doctors, in this hospital, on the day you arrive.
Three registered doctors under one roof
Where a more advanced pregnancy needs a second doctor's opinion before it can be certified, that opinion comes from this hospital's own registered doctors, on the same visit.
A government MTP licence and the prescribed consent form
The theatre is licensed by the government specifically for termination of pregnancy. The government's prescribed consent form must be signed before a termination, and that form exists only at licensed premises — a pharmacy may not dispense the medicines without it. It is protection for you, and its presence tells you what kind of facility you are in.
Scan-guided surgery, 100% disposable instruments
Where surgery is needed the doctor watches the uterus on the scan screen throughout, and every instrument and consumable that touches you is single-use.
Ectopic pregnancy: a different condition, not a termination
Sometimes a scan shows the pregnancy growing outside the womb, usually inside a fallopian tube. That is an ectopic pregnancy. It is not a termination of pregnancy and it is not the same decision at all: it is a separate medical condition, it is an emergency, the pregnancy cannot continue where it is, and the surgery that treats it is done to protect your life under entirely different considerations. Finding it in time is one of the reasons the scan comes before anything else.
The reason we ask you to come sooner
Earlier in a pregnancy the whole thing is simpler: more methods remain available, less intervention is needed and you recover faster. Later, the choices narrow and what is left is a bigger undertaking. The law sets outer limits and we will tell you exactly where you stand in them — but our reason for urging you not to wait is clinical, not administrative.
A price that is fixed before it is charged
Telephone us with a recent ultrasound and we can give you a close estimate. It cannot be more than an estimate until you have been examined. On arrival, our own certified doctors assess you, examine you and repeat the investigations, so the exact situation and gestation are known rather than assumed.
Only then are you given a precise, itemised cost — hospital, medical, pharmacy and laboratory — and that becomes a promised package in rupees. Hospital fees are taken in full in advance and the figure does not change at the end. The figure you are given is the figure you pay.
How to reach us from Hyderabad
- By air, which is what we would suggest. There are direct flights from Hyderabad into Goa most days, roughly an hour and a quarter in the air. Prefer Dabolim (GOI), which is a few kilometres from the hospital; Mopa (GOX) is served too but is in North Goa and adds about an hour and a half of road at this end.
- By train, honestly described. There is a direct rail link between Hyderabad and Vasco-da-Gama, and it ends at the station nearest to us — but it is an overnight journey of well over half a day. It suits someone who would rather not fly; it is not the quick option.
- By road it is a very long drive, and we would not recommend it for this.
- Inside Goa, our car is free. We collect you from the airport or the railway station, bring you to the hospital and take you back afterwards, at no cost to you. The same service reaches into Karnataka and Maharashtra for patients travelling by road — ask us.
Timings change with the season and with the timetable, so confirm before you book.

Before you travel
- WhatsApp us the date of your last menstrual period and any scan you already have, so we can tell you what to expect before you spend anything.
- Send any blood reports as well — it shortens your day here.
- Ask whether the follow-up check can be done on the same trip.
- Keep a spare day rather than flying back the same evening.

Will anything reach my family or my office?
No. Nothing about your visit is written where others can see it, discussed outside the room, or given out to anyone who asks.

No. The decision and the consent are yours alone, married or not.
How is the cost decided?
After you are examined here, you are given an itemised figure covering hospital, medical, pharmacy and laboratory. That promised package is what you pay.
This page is for general education and is not personal medical advice. Treatment depends on your own examination and reports, so please speak to a doctor about your situation. We do not carry out or offer sex determination of any kind.
