Choosing a fertility centre in Goa: what actually matters

A few practical things matter more than a name: whether your existing reports are reviewed rather than repeated, whether the laboratory and the doctor are in the same place throughout a cycle, and whether costs are explained before you commit to anything. Those three, more than anything else, decide whether a cycle runs smoothly.

Your existing reports should be reviewed, not repeated

If you have already had a semen analysis, a tubal patency test, or hormone results done elsewhere, a good first consultation looks at what you already have before ordering anything new. Repeating tests that were done correctly elsewhere costs time and money without adding information. Bring whatever reports you have, however old — see fertility treatment at Pai Hospital for how a first consultation is structured.

The laboratory and the doctor should be in the same place, for the whole cycle

Ovarian stimulation is monitored over roughly ten to fourteen days of scans, and if IVF is involved, egg collection and embryo transfer both have to happen in the same cycle without a gap for moving samples between locations. At Pai Hospital, the consultation room, the operating theatre and the embryology laboratory are in the same building at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama — one address, one team, from the first scan to the transfer. For IUI specifically, the same principle applies: the sample is washed and prepared in the same building where the procedure happens, shortly before it.

Costs should be explained before you commit

What a cycle costs depends on how much monitoring and medication it needs, and that is genuinely hard to know in advance — but a centre should still be able to walk you through what drives the cost before you start, rather than leaving it to be discovered mid-cycle. See what affects IVF cost in Goa and what IUI costs in India.

The same doctor, start to finish

A cycle involves several visits — monitoring scans, the procedure or retrieval itself, and follow-up — and it helps if the same doctor sees it through rather than a different one at each stage, since they carry the context of your case forward. Dr. Mayur Pai (MBBS, MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology), a fertility specialist and laparoscopic surgeon with 15 years in practice, sees patients through their own cycles himself, alongside two other registered doctors on staff. Both partners investigated, not just one

Infertility is traced to the woman in some cases, the man in others, and a combination or no clear cause in the rest. A centre that only investigates one partner is starting from an incomplete picture — see male infertility and female infertility.

Travelling for treatment

If you are coming from elsewhere in Goa for a monitoring visit or a procedure day, we send a car for you and bring you home again, free of cost. Patients also travel from Karwar, Belgaum, Panaji and beyond specifically for treatment here — call or WhatsApp us to plan visits around your monitoring schedule.

Getting started

Call or WhatsApp us and send any reports or scans you already have. A first consultation looks at what has been done so far and what still needs investigating, so nothing is repeated unnecessarily.

Do I need to repeat tests I've already had done elsewhere?

Usually not, if the reports are recent and complete. Bring them to your first consultation so they can be reviewed rather than repeated.

Is the laboratory on the same premises as the consultation room?

Yes. The embryology laboratory, the operating theatre and the consultation room are all in the same building at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama.

Will I see the same doctor at every visit?

Dr. Mayur Pai sees his patients through their own cycles himself, from monitoring through to the procedure and follow-up.

Can I get an idea of cost before starting?

Yes — call or WhatsApp us and we can talk through what typically drives cost for a cycle like yours, though the exact figure depends on how your body responds.
