Your privacy comes first

If you are thinking of coming to Goa for an abortion so that no one at home needs to know, you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with wanting that. Many of the women we care for travel from other districts and other states for exactly this reason. Your decision is your own, and we treat it with the same quiet respect whether you live nearby or arrive from far away.

Confidentiality is built into how we work. What you tell us stays between you and your treating doctor. We do not announce your visit, a grown woman does not need a family member's permission for her own care, and your details are not shared with anyone who telephones asking about you. If you would prefer that no letters or messages reach a shared phone or a home address, simply tell us and we will note it. You stay in control of how your care is handled.

A first online consultation, before you travel

Before you make a long journey, it makes sense to know whether the trip is worth making. That is what the first online consultation is for. You can call or message us, describe your situation in confidence, and share any recent reports you already have. From that conversation, Dr Pai can tell you whether the treatment is likely to be feasible for you and what the sensible next step is, and we can plan the practical side, such as when to come and how to travel to us.

It is important to be clear about what this online step can and cannot do. It is a conversation to plan and guide you, and nothing more. No treatment of any kind is ever given over the phone or online. We do not, and cannot, send any medicine to your home by post or by courier, and there is no such thing as an abortion arranged over the phone. The online consultation simply saves you a wasted journey and tells you what to expect when you arrive.

The care itself is always in person

To receive any abortion service, you must come to the hospital in Goa in person. This is not a formality; it is how safe care is given. A woman needs to be examined properly, with a scan by our own doctors, so that her situation is understood accurately before anything is decided. Some situations that look simple from a distance turn out to need quite different care once a woman is seen — for example, a pregnancy that has settled in the wrong place, which is an emergency and not a termination at all. That is precisely why an in-person assessment matters and is never skipped, and why we ask you to come in and be assessed rather than describe everything over a call.

Whether care follows the medicine route or a short procedure is a decision made after you are seen and assessed, together with you, and never from a description alone. Getting here, and getting home again

We know that travel is one of the biggest worries when you are coming from outside Goa and trying to keep things private. To make it easier, free patient transport is available from across Goa and from the areas nearby, arranged discreetly, so distance need not stand between you and safe care. You do not have to find your own way here or explain your journey to anyone.

When you arrive, you are not left waiting in a crowded, public queue with your reason on display. Your visit is handled calmly and with dignity. Our focus is on giving you safe, high-quality, careful treatment — the kind you would want for someone you love — not on rushing you through.

Lawful, dignified care for every woman

Ending a pregnancy is lawful in India under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act when it is carried out by a registered doctor at a government-licensed facility, within the situations the law allows. This is not something to be afraid of. As an adult you do not need anyone else's permission to seek this care. Many of the women who come to us are unmarried, and the law protects them in exactly the same way; we treat every woman the same, without judgement and without questions meant to make her uncomfortable. We do not carry out or offer sex determination of any kind; that is unlawful, and it is simply not something we do.
