Inside the hospital
Lawful, licensed, confidential. Termination of pregnancy at Pai Hospital is carried out lawfully under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 (as amended), at a licensed facility, by registered medical practitioners, within the limits and the certification that the Act requires. We do not carry out or offer sex determination of any kind, at any stage, for any reason. Your identity and your treatment are confidential.
Pai Hospital is a single building at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama, holding the operating theatre, the IVF laboratory, consultation rooms and admission facilities. Nothing is split across a second address.
The operating theatre
The operating theatre is government-licensed, including specifically for termination of pregnancy under the MTP Act. Every instrument and consumable that touches a patient is single-use — 100% disposable, nothing reused between patients. Surgical procedures, including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and D&C under real-time sonographic guidance, are carried out here.
The IVF laboratory
The embryology laboratory is in the same building as the operating theatre and the consultation rooms, which is what allows a fertility cycle — monitoring, egg collection, laboratory fertilisation and embryo transfer — to be managed from start to finish without sending samples or patients elsewhere.
Admission and recovery
Most procedures at Pai Hospital, whether a day-care termination of pregnancy, an IUI procedure, or a laparoscopic operation, are managed with a short admission — often the same day, sometimes a one- or two-night stay depending on the procedure. Longer stays are reserved for the operations that genuinely need them, such as an abdominal hysterectomy.
One building, one doctor
Because consultation, investigation, the laboratory and the operating theatre are all here, the doctor you first consult is the one who sees your case through — rather than referring you elsewhere for the parts of your care that need equipment a smaller clinic does not have.
Is the operating theatre licensed for termination of pregnancy?
Yes. It holds a government licence specifically for this, alongside its use for gynaecological and fertility-related surgery.
Is the IVF laboratory in the same building as the hospital?
Yes, at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama. There is no second location.
Will I need to stay overnight?
It depends on the procedure. Many are day-care; some laparoscopic operations are a one- or two-night stay; only a few, such as an abdominal hysterectomy, need longer.
