Porvorim sits between Panjim and Mapusa, and we have a fertility consultation clinic in each, so you can choose whichever fits your day. Panjim or Mapusa: which clinic suits you?
You can simply pick the clinic closer to your home or work. Some couples prefer to consult a little away from their own neighbourhood, for privacy, and that is completely understandable. Tell our reception what matters to you, and they will suggest the clinic and the time that suit you. Everything you tell us stays confidential. If you will need the zero-cost car, choose Panjim, Margao or Vasco, because it does not go to the Mapusa clinic.
What happens at the first consultation?
A consultation looks at the whole picture, as a couple. The doctor goes through your history and any reports you have, then plans only the tests that are still missing. IUI needs a few basics in place first: at least one open tube, a semen analysis showing enough active sperm, an egg being released, with medicines if needed, and a healthy womb. Bring every report you already have, from any clinic or laboratory, or send them on WhatsApp before you come; recent, complete reports often do not need repeating, which saves time and money. Is IUI the right step for you?
IUI suits milder problems: a mildly low sperm count or movement, ovulation problems such as PCOS, infertility where no cause is found, problems at the neck of the womb and difficulty with intercourse, as long as at least one tube is open. When both tubes are blocked, when very few active sperm remain after preparation, or when age or a very low egg reserve leaves little time, IVF is usually discussed instead. For many couples, IUI is worth three or four well-timed attempts before IVF is discussed, and fewer may be advised when the wife is older or the egg reserve is low. Each cycle that does not work is reviewed, not just repeated. When IUI is recommended, and when it is not sets this out in full.
How many trips does an IUI cycle need from Porvorim?
An IUI cycle follows one menstrual cycle, and most of it is short scan visits. Message the team on WhatsApp, or call, on the first day of your period, so your baseline scan can be booked for day 2 or 3; gentle ovulation medicines usually begin then. From around day 8, follicle scans follow every two or three days until the egg is ready. A trigger injection then times its release, and the IUI is done a day or so later. Altogether that is usually a baseline scan, two or three follicle scans and the IUI day, with a pregnancy test about two weeks after.
On IUI day, the laboratory prepares your husband's fresh sample in about an hour. The IUI itself takes a few minutes and needs no anaesthesia, and most women feel only mild cramping, if anything. There is no admission, and after a short rest you can carry on with normal life, including work. The dates are set by your body, not by a calendar, so tell the team early about work shifts or travel, and make sure your husband is free at the planned time. If he works abroad or at sea, his own sample can sometimes be frozen in advance; ask us whether this suits your situation. Day by day, the cycle is set out in the IUI cycle day by day.
Is there pickup and drop at zero cost to the patient from Porvorim?
