An IUI cycle is short but has several moving parts — a series of monitoring scans, sometimes medication to support ovulation, sample preparation in the laboratory, and the procedure itself, all within days of each other. If monitoring happens in one place and the procedure elsewhere, or with a different doctor each time, information about your specific cycle can get lost between visits. Both partners investigated first
IUI is only suitable in specific situations — mild male-factor infertility, unexplained infertility, or where ovulation needs a small amount of support, and with at least one open fallopian tube. Travelling for treatment
Patients travel to Pai Hospital from across Goa and from further afield — Karwar, Belgaum, Panaji — specifically for IUI. If you are coming from elsewhere in Goa for a monitoring visit or the procedure day, we send a car for you and bring you home again, free of cost. If IUI does not work after a few cycles
Your consultant should be willing to discuss moving on to IVF at that point, based on your own investigation results, rather than repeating IUI indefinitely.
