DEEN DAYAL SWASTHYA SEVA YOJNA is a Health scheme by the government of Goa. Under this scheme, several types of gynecological and women’s health related surgeries can be done free of cost at approved hospitals.
At Pai Hospital, the different types of surgeries approved under DDSSY health scheme are as follows:
Hysterectomy- uterus removal surgery is approved under DDSSY in Pai hospital. This surgery is done by minimal invasive methods like laparoscopic surgery or key hole surgery at Pai Hospital. This means that the patient can get her hysterectomy (uterus removal surgery) done without cutting the abdomen. This helps in reducing the recovery time and is more comfortable to the patient
Vaginal hysterectomy with repair is a surgery done for prolapse of the uterus. This is a condition in which the uterus or the mouth of the uterus protrudes through the vagina. This surgery is also a minimally invasive surgery and can be done without cutting the abdomen.
Myomectomy or fibroid removal surgery can be done at Pai Hospital under DDSSY scheme. Myomectomy is a surgery done to remove fibroids which are benign non-cancerous tumors of the uterus. These fibroids cause symptoms or complains like excessive menstrual bleeding, painful menses, or infertility. Fibroids are usually diagnosed by ultrasonography or by clinical examination by the gynecologist. At Pai Hospital, myomectomy surgery can be done under DDSSY scheme by laparoscopy method. This method involves small mini cuts on the abdomen rather than a single large cut. These cuts are 5 to 10mm in length and heal well, usually with minimal scarring and pain.
